ACTFest 2024-2025
Hosted by the Alabama Center for the Arts, a partnership of Athens State University and Calhoun County Community College, on October 19-20, 2024. Funded in part by a grant from the Alabama Coun
Host Alabama Center for the Arts lead by Director of Drama & Theatre Arts Hugh Long, PhD and Production Director William Richardson. Events were coordinated by Cindy Harper, Executive Director, Lisa Ponder, Chair, Community Theatre, and Kim Mason, Vice Chair, Community Theatre. Adjudicators were Tony Davison (Montgomery), Gabe Smith (Starkville, MS) and Kim Frick-Welker (Cookeville, TN). The AACT commissioner was Susan Austin.
Workshops included: Choreography- Improv for the Act, Clay Boyce; Creative Problem Solving: Scenic and Prop Challenges, Matthew Stratton; Contemporary Musical Theatre Dance Workshop, Kayleigh Smith; and The Fight: Safe and Effective Unarmed Stage Combat Basics for Theatre Practitioners, Hugh Long.
