2024 Theatre for Youth – Montgomery

Registration opens January 8, 2024

The Theatre for Youth Middle School Festival celebrates excellence in Alabama’s Community and School drama/theatre programs by allowing students a venue for exhibition, competition, and observation of theatre in action.

In 2024, there will be two festivals, held a week apart in different parts of the state, so participants may choose the festival which will be most convenient to attend. The festival is open to all community and school theatre programs with grades 4-8 students. Classroom teachers and community youth theatre program sponsors may register individuals, duets, and groups. Individual students may be registered in NO MORE THAN TWO INDIVIDUAL EVENTS, and up to one group event. Individual students may not register
themselves. They must be registered as a school or community theatre program member.

Registration for the annual ACTFest Community Theatre Festival closes September 29, 2023 (Extended from Sept 15).  The festival promises great one-acts, fun individual events for adult actors, and engaging workshops for community theatre directors, technicians, and actors.

Walter Trumbuaer High School Festival

Registration opens September 1, 2023

The Trumbuear festival consists of more than 30 individual events, a one-act play festival, a studio theatre one act play festival, and workshops—all for 9th through 12th grades, as well as scholarship auditions and a college/university fair for high school seniors and junior college students. Students qualify for the state competition by earning a rating of “superior” at one of seven district festivals held on November 4, 2023
