ACT Annual Summit

Registration is Open

Join us for the annual Summit on August 24, 2024 We will open with a keynote TBA followed by our annual meeting before breaking out into our branches: College/University, Community Theatre, High School, Professional and Elementary/Middles School  – TFY (4th-8th grade).  After lunch, we will celebrate the ACT Award Winners, hear reports from the breakout sessions, and conclude ACT business.  This is a great time to reconnect with your family of theatre artists (educational, professional, and community) throughout Alabama to network and share resources.

ACTFest 24-25

ACTFest Community Theatre Festival will be October 18 – 20, 2024, at the Alabama Center for the Arts, located in Decatur, AL, a collaboration with Calhoun Community College and Athens State University.
 
REGISTRATION OPENS July 15, 2024! The deadline is September 20, 2024
 
Community theatres throughout Alabama are invited to compete and participate in one-act and individual and group events. The two winning theatres will advance to compete at the SETC Community Theatre Festival in conjunction with the annual SETC Convention in Baltimore, MD March 19-23, 2025.  The winners of the SETC Festival will advance to the national AACTFest 2025 June 25-28, 2025, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Walter Trumbauer High School Festival

Registration opens September 1, 2024

The Walter Trumbauer Festival has provided quality training and performance opportunities for Alabama theatre students at the high school level since 1940.  The festival consists of 33 individual events, a one-act play festival, a studio theatre play festival, and group events —all for 9th through 12th grades. Students receive critiques from qualified theatre practitioners.  The Awards ceremony celebrates the best of the best.  The two top one-act productions advance to the SETC High School Competition.

2024 Theatre for Youth – Scottsboro

Registration opens January 8, 2024

The Theatre for Youth Middle School Festival celebrates excellence in Alabama’s Community and School drama/theatre programs by allowing students a venue for exhibition, competition, and observation of theatre in action.

In 2024, there will be two festivals, held a week apart in different parts of the state, so participants may choose the festival which will be most convenient to attend. The festival is open to all community and school theatre programs with grades 4-8 students. Classroom teachers and community youth theatre program sponsors may register individuals, duets, and groups. Individual students may be registered in NO MORE THAN TWO INDIVIDUAL EVENTS, and up to one group event. Individual students may not register
themselves. They must be registered as a school or community theatre program member.
